From 1 January 2026, lawyers and lawyers as well as represent parties before authorities or courts on a professional basis or who are authorized to conduct procedural acts electronically must conduct procedural acts with authorities and courts exclusively electronically in the canton of Zurich – a decision that the Federal Supreme Court has already supported.

Documents may then no longer be submitted in paper form, which means a major change for many companies. A secure and recognized solution for digital signatures such as eSignR is therefore essential.

We are pleased to introduce the latest version of the eSignR software, version 1.1.1. This version includes bug fixes, new features and improvements.

    • New functionalities: We have moved proxy settings to the hamburger menu, added the ability for on-premises use for enterprises, and improved the security of signing requests. In addition, we now offer the option to use the headless batch signer.

    • Bug fixes: In this release, we fixed bugs related to signing options, image formats, language selection, loading processes and more.
    • Improvements: The signing process can now be cancelled more easily, error messages have been made more understandable and the validation of signature profiles has been optimised.

From October 2023, eSignR’s offering will be extended with On-Premises solutions for enterprise customers and partner companies. These options enable the one-off installation of the eSignR software in the customer’s own system environment, which saves time during implementation, especially for larger numbers of users, and gives the customer full control over the data. eSignR can be operated in various hosting environments. If required, it can be integrated into existing manual workflow systems.

In cooperation with STV, the Swiss Engineering Professional Association, we cordially invite you to the next MINT’talk on the topic of qualified electronic signatures (QES), which will be presented by the CEO of Glue Software Engineering AG, Dr. Igor Metz. He will give exciting insights into this important technology for the digitalization of business processes and explain practical applications.
In addition to the lecture, he will present our own signature solution, eSignR. In the subsequent eSignR Bootcamp, participants will have the opportunity to be identified on site in order to be able to use the QES immediately afterwards. For active participation in the bootcamp, a valid ID (ID, passport or foreigner ID), mobile phone and notebook are required.

MINT’talk is part of our after-work event series MINT’talks and offers an excellent opportunity to network, exchange knowledge and discuss topics in this field.

MINT’talks is an innovative after-work event series of the Glue Group, which is oriented towards the subject areas of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology (MINT/STEM). Our aim is to provide you with a platform where you can gain insights into the latest developments and trends in these fields.

 

We place great emphasis on offering you high-quality lectures on current topics presented by guest speakers. The after-work events each take the form of a one-hour lecture followed by networking.

After each MINT’talk, you have the opportunity to discuss the topics that particularly interest you with like-minded people in a relaxed atmosphere. The new format is aimed at our customers, partners, employees, interested parties and friends of the Glue Group.

In mid-February 2023, Open eGov LocalSigner, the free signature software for qualified electronic signatures and electronic notarial authentications of the Confederation, will be discontinued.

The success story of LocalSigner

With Open eGov LocalSigner, which has been provided free of charge by the Federal Administration since 2008, citizens, employees of the administration, lawyers and notaries have been able to sign electronic submissions in administrative, civil, debt enforcement and criminal proceedings or personal documents in a legally valid manner.

After many successful years with over 54,000 users, the Federal Administration will finally discontinue the further development and support of LocalSigner. Since summer 2022, the Federal Administration has been using its own software for its internal needs, which cannot be made available to people outside the Federal Administration.

Consequences for LocalSigner users

The free distribution of Open eGov LocalSigner by the Federal Administration has already been discontinued as of the end of 2022. The software will only be functional until mid-February.

From then on, when loading a PDF file in LocalSigner, the text “DEMO” will appear in red letters. The reason for this is that the licence of a third-party software used in LocalSigner is expiring. Further use of LocalSigner is not recommended for licensing reasons.

The successor product «eSignR»

LocalSigner was known for its ease of use, its reliability and above all its confidentiality. We believe that users should still be able to sign documents electronically without them ending up in the cloud.

As the manufacturer of LocalSigner, Glue Software Engineering AG has developed the successor product eSignR. The same criteria as for LocalSigner were prioritised with a focus on confidentiality. With eSignR, qualified electronic signatures and electronic notarial certifications can still be created. The software now has a modern and intuitive user interface with new features that make the signature process more efficient.
