How eSignR works

To sign electronically in a legally compliant manner, a one-time identification is required – regardless of the provider. In the following six steps, we show you how the identification and the setup of eSignR work.

Note: The free 30-day trial period starts when you create your account. To make the most of the trial period, we recommend completing the identification before creating your account.

1

Install and activate the Mobile ID app

Swisscom’s Mobile ID is your personal key for every qualified signature.

  1. Install the app on your personal smartphone (Android or iOS): mobileid.ch/en
Important: use the Mobile ID app, not the Mobile ID SIM.
  2. Activate and test the app: open mobileid.ch/en/login and run the Mobile ID function test.
Write down the recovery code and keep it in a safe place, e.g. in a password manager. You will need it if you change your phone or SIM card. Without the recovery code, you will have to be identified again.
2

Get identified for the qualified signature

A qualified electronic signature requires a one-time identification. For this, you need a valid identity document and a smartphone with the Mobile ID app activated. The identification is valid for a maximum of three years or until the identity document used expires.

  1. Open check-signature.scapp.swisscom.com
  2. Enter your mobile number
  3. Confirm with the Mobile ID app
  4. The result must show a green tick.

  2. Open the confirmation email and click the link. No email received? Please check your spam folder.
  3. Complete the identification in the portal: enter your first name, last name, mobile number and nationality exactly as shown on the identity document you presented during the identification.
From this moment on, your free 30-day trial runs automatically.

5

Create an access code

You use the access code to log in to the eSignR software. You generate it in the online portal.

The code is only displayed once. Write it down immediately. Forgotten it? Simply create a new one; the old one then expires automatically.

  2. On first launch:
Windows: If a firewall notice appears, click “Allow access”.
Mac: If necessary, allow eSignR under System Settings › Security & Privacy.
  3. eSignR opens in your browser. Log in with your email address and the access code from step 5.
  4. Select a document, sign it and confirm with the Mobile ID app. Done.

Good to know: If you close the browser window, eSignR shuts down by itself after about 30 seconds. You can also quit eSignR via the menu. After the trial, you take out a subscription: esignr.ch/en/prices
