The qualified electronic signature (QES) is the highest level of electronic signature. In Switzerland, it is equivalent to a handwritten signature under Art. 14 para. 2bis of the Swiss Code of Obligations, and in the EU it is recognised under eIDAS. All signatures created with eSignR are QES.
Yes. A QES is legally valid regardless of industry. The only exceptions are cases where the law requires a specific form, such as a handwritten will.
The QES requires a one-time identification with a valid passport or ID card and the Mobile ID app. It is available free of charge in selected Swisscom shops or online for a fee. eSignR customers can also be identified free of charge at Glue AG in Bern, a certified registration authority. All options are listed in the identification guide.
No. With eSignR, the document never leaves your device. Only the data required for the signature is transmitted.
The US CLOUD Act requires US providers to hand over data to authorities on request, even if the data is stored outside the US. With eSignR, your documents do not leave your device when you sign. The server-side components are operated by fence IT AG in Switzerland, and the signature is created by Swisscom Trust Services.
Yes. In addition to the standard solution, which runs in ISO 27001-certified Swiss data centres, there are two on-premises options.
